Your home energy retrofit journey

Step 1

Luxury Climate’s Free Consultation

We recommend starting with our free consultation. We will take the time to get to know you, your home, your goals, and your budget. We will also discuss rebates, grants, financing, comfort concerns, and ways we can tailor the experience to your needs.

At Luxury Climate, we specialize in helping homeowners transition to cleaner energy systems while improving their health and comfort. Every home has unique needs, so we think taking the time to get you know is essential. Everyone who is involved in the decision-making should attend the consultation.

Step 2

Rebate & Grant Research

Heat pumps currently have rebates and grants from the federal, provincial, and municipal government levels. The federal Greener Homes Grant can be combined with one of the two available BetterHomesBC rebate programs. Certain municipalities provide top-up rebates when applying for rebates through BetterHomesBC.

The Greener Homes Grant amounts vary from $2,500 to $5,000 when installing an eligible heat pump, regardless of which heating system you currently have in your home (Initiative paused; a new initiative is coming soon). Check the Oil to Heat Pump program for up to $10,000 if you are heating with oil.

Provincial heat pump rebates can vary depending on which system you currently have, your location, and your household income. An excellent resource for understanding the rebates and grants available is the BC Energy Coach service. They can be reached online or at (844) 881-9790.

Income-Qualified Program

The Income-Qualified Program discount is deducted from the installation before we bill you. If eligible, you will receive 60 to 95% coverage up to $9500 for a heat pump, $3500 for an electrical service upgrade, and other opportunities.

OR

BetterHomesBC

You can find all rebates available from CleanBC, FortisBC, and BC Hydro at BetterHomesBC.ca. You apply for these rebates after completing your home upgrades. You will not be eligible for these rebates if you receive funds from the Income Qualified Program.

+

Greener Homes Grant

The Greener Homes Grant program is a national grant program. An Energy Assessment is required before you begin retrofits, and it takes up to 6 months to receive the grant after you have completed your final application.

Initiative paused. The Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program and Greener Homes Loan are still active

Step 3

Energy Evaluation

You will be asked to select an Energy Advisor when signing up for the Greener Homes Grant. If you would like a recommendation, please feel free to contact us. Your Energy Advisor will contact you and schedule a visit to your home.

During their visit, you will receive valuable information followed by a report with suggestions on making your home more energy efficient. Those upgrades may include insulation, windows, doors, and air sealing. We recommend improving your home's envelope first so we can properly size your new HVAC system. These upgrades can impact your home comfort more than replacing your HVAC system.

Initiative paused, still recommended but not required for the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program

Step 4

System Design

The next step is booking a visit with Luxury Climate for your System Design. We will then design a system to meet your needs, as learned through the consultation and the report from your energy advisor. Afterward, we will provide quotes, brochures, balance point calculations, our service agreement, and heat loss and gain calculations.

Step 5

Financing

Check out these two options if you want to finance your project and pay low monthly payments. The Greener Homes Loan is a 0% interest 10-year loan. It can sometimes take up to two months to be approved and only provides 15% as a deposit for your contractor. Financeit can be a great option while waiting for your rebates and grants to be sent to you.

Greener Homes Loan

The Canada Greener Homes Loan helps Canadians make their homes more energy-efficient and comfortable. It offers interest-free financing in addition to the Canada Greener Homes Grant to help you complete some of the major retrofits recommended by your energy advisor.

OR

Financeit Loan

We have partnered with Financeit to provide our customers with the option of financing. This can be utilized while you wait for up to 6 months for your grants and rebates.

Step 6

Installation

Before ordering your equipment, we will ask for your 50% deposit or the remaining balance after the Income-Qualified Program discount. We will then book and install your new personalized system. Once the job is complete, we will ask for the remaining balance from you or the Income-Qualified program. After we have deposited the total balance of the invoice, we will provide your receipt and any other documents required for the rebate and grant programs.

Step 7

Rebate and grant requests

If you are part of the Income-Qualified Program, we will request that portion of your invoice from the program. After receiving the funds, we will send you your receipt showing the balance paid in full.

For the Greener Homes Grant, you must log into their online portal and request a Post-Energy Evaluation from your selected Energy Advisor. They will inspect your home upgrades and help you apply for the grant. You must have the required documents from your contractors, including your receipts.

If you are applying for BetterHomesBC rebates, you can apply online using the documents and receipts that you have been provided with by Luxury Climate.
